MUKURU KWA NJENGA AND MUKURU KAYABA DEMOLITION CASH TRANSFER FOR AFFECTED FAMILIES.
On the 11th of Octorber 2021, after a 2 month notices given by the County government of Nairobi, demolitions of properties located on land allocated to road development began in Mukuru kwa Njenga and Mukuru Kayaba.
Due to the 2 month noticed given before the demolitions began most residents were able to relocate without any major issues. However, some families have been left with no place to go as they had constructed their homes on land they owned. These families have been left with nowhere to go.
On our visits on the 12th and 13th of October we were able to verify 14 families have had their homes destroyed and left with nowhere to go. A large number of these families mentioned below are currently being accommodated by the masjid in Mukuru kwa Njenga and others have been taken in by members of the community.
