Public feeding of the poor and needy in Ramadhan which is an aspect of spending in the way of Allah is generally exhorted in Islam.
In the sunnah, it was narrated that Zayd ibn Khaalidal-Juhani said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever gives iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the feeding person in the slightest.”
